Description
The General Manager is responsible for running the daily operations of the business and providing leadership to the Heroes team for a service area focused in Phoenix, AZ and surrounding communities. This is a dynamic role that requires an organized individual with experience in lawn/turf care and the ability to take on a broad set of responsibilities. The ideal candidate is passionate about turf science, customers and employees and loves finding innovative solutions to age-old lawn care problems. Does that sound like you? 

Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing: 
  • Expand Customer Base: The business has grown fast in its first year and needs to continue to expand its residential and HOA portfolio, penetrate geographic territories and drive sales from inbound leads.
  • Lead a Stellar Team: Our technicians are the best in the business and we’re looking for a dynamic leader who can continue to add talent to the teams while looking to grow leaders from within.
  • Execute with Quality: Implement systems and processes to enable Heroes to scale to millions in annual revenue while maintaining its reputation for excellent results and service with customers.
  • Other responsibilities include: Training, reporting/metrics, equipment maintenance, managing warehouse, visiting customer sites, recruiting technicians, marketing and PR.

Qualifications
Who We’re Looking For: 
  • You have experience managing residential, commercial, golf or HOA turfgrasses and knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) best practices, turfgrass applications and chemical pesticides.
  • Your experience includes recurring services such as fertilizer programs as well as less frequent landscaping and turf management practices (aeration, overseeding, topdressing, etc.).
  • You have a strong handle on how to build a profitable business, including costing, pricing/margins, managing inventory and overhead, etc.
  • Not only do you bring existing customer, vendor and subcontractor relationships with you, but you are constantly building new ones.
  • You believe attitude is everything and will work to overcome obstacles with a growth mindset, collaborative spirit and by leading from the front.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years experience in turfgrass maintenance, pesticide applications, landscaping or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory role.
  • Hold current Arizona Commercial Applicator’s License (Lawn & Ornamental).
  • Working knowledge of landscape irrigation (license not required).
  • Helpful but not required: Vocational/Technical degree in an aligned area of study.
  • Demonstrated Sales success.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
    • Stand; walk; sit; twist; use hands to handle; reach with hands and arms; push; pull; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
    • Lift, move, and hold up to approximately 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to work a full-time, flexible schedule with “on call availability” and must be able to travel on short notice.
    • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle (day and evenings) for extended time periods
